Very informative. Very true. I adopted a 3 yr old neutered male that had minimal training in first 3 years. He was a HANDFUL!!! He had an extensive bite history. I was bitten by him often in the beginning. And he barked a lot and very sharp bark. Between the time he came into my life & his leaving (unexpectedly hit by vehicle) he was getting better and better. Less negative behaviour, more snuggles & so much love!!! His death was sudden and I’m still grieving deeply. Run free Toby. He was 5.5 at death.

I'm very very sorry. I have been crying all the video long and now that I'm writing these lines I'm following crying. Now I am watching sleeping my lovely terv girl called Dolça (Sweet in catalan) because she is very very sweet and lovely. She is 9 and a half and last year she was very close to die. The vet told us that in 24h we should decide to give her euthanasia. Affortunately we were lucky and now she is healthy with us. I just can say that I enjoyed a lot watching the Rancho videos and you can feel proud and privileged to share all those years and happy moments with him. I know what you suffered because before Dolça I got a Groenendael, she had cancer, operated twice, got radio but all wasn't enough to save her and finally we had to finish her suffering and it was one of the hardest days of my life when she was gone in my arms. I felt like a killer that kill a daughter. Remember all the good thing with him, that I'm sure there are a lot. My best regards and my condolences. And I'm sure that Rancho is in the heaven watching you and playing with other angels like him

So sorry to hear about Rancho. I must ask...was he on any oral flea/tick or heartworm meds?

Adopté una Groenendael de 9 meses , ( tengo una meztiza pastor aleman de 6 años ) , realmente es todo como lo describís , es incansable . Las perras se llevan muy bien , les encanta juegar rudo . Ahora la mestiza esta tan activa , que bajó un par de kilos y se tonifico muscularmente . La pastora aprendió todo muy rapidamente , y copia algunas cosas de su hermana . Lo que más me esta costando , es que cuando ve otro perro se desespera , no para atacarlo , sino para jugar . Tengo que controlarle esa ansiedad

Im so sorry for ur loss. Im crying myself. That is totally devastating and he.was so young. You made the best decision- the deepest act of love- by thinking of him and his quality of life. Never doubt urself over that decision nor the Mri. I think he lived the most wonderful life with u 2. I have just come across ur videos and i can see what a happy dog he was. He will definitely let u know when to get a new puppy. I am truly sorry about ur loss. RIP Rancho.

I have a working line Malinois male. If you need a livestock guardian that barks, chases and bites the Belgian shepherds are without pier ! They LOVE their owners. They are LOYAL to a fault and WILL NOT back down from a threat. Please don't get one unless you have a job for them to do! The shelters are full of them and it breaks my heart.

@Rancho what do you recommend for a mobility assistance service dog? I need her to be able to pull me to standing and help me balance using it.

Omg thank you so much for this video! I purchased a blue9 harness about a month ago and was using the front clip while teaching my friends dog not to pull and it definitely made it easier. She's gotten way better at not pulling so I've switched to the clip on the back of the harness and it looks way more comfortable for her. One thing I noticed is that the front clip causes the pressure from pulling to focus on one shoulder much more then the other while the dog is pulling, which I imagine could cause stiff/sore muscles in that shoulder even in a harness that is perfect when the back attachment is used.

Quizás Atenas y Rancho son amigos ahora, y corren juntos y felices por los bosques de Dios esperando nuestro re encuentro. I intended on getting a mal but bought the only terv puppy instead. I was so lost on why my pup was different than his liter mates and you made it so easy to understand

There should be NO DIFFERENCE between a show dog and a work dog in the Belgian Community. All Belgians should be able to "DO IT ALL"!!! SOME Malinois people did this, and it went all the way to the point that they didn't have a double coat anymore!!! Can you imagine a Tervuren without a double coat? If you believe this video, you want to ruin the breed. My female Belgian Malinois's Father was a bomb detection/drug detection dog and won the BISS, so he had brains and beauty. This video is FALSE

I am sorry for your loss 😢 my tervueren died when she was 5 😢, it almost ended in a lawsuit... You provided the best life for him and he was such a nice character. I recommend a book by Wallace Sife - How to lose a pet, it is about grieving. I was taking the same walking routes for a while after my dog died, and talked to others and I was coping so much better knowing I wasn't alone and others understood my feelings. And keep in mind you provided the best for him all in his life.

This video makes it seem like having a Belgian Shepherd is a full time job and nothing but hard work. They're bred to protect sheep. How much training, exercise and mental exercise do you think a flock of sheep provide?

Shepherds aren't guard dogs, but they protect those they watch over, they are shepherds. My Rufus was a party animal.

They definitely "tolerate" strangers, they have an interesting mindset of being a guardian at all times.

Oh my heart! Just seeing this, I am so very sorry you had to release Rancho. I know how you feel, I really do. My Belgian Sheepdog Josie was epileptic. Had her first seizure just before her 7th birthday. Had a series of them even on meds. On a whim, I sent a mouth swab off to Hemopet, came back that she was sensitive to turkey. She'd been eating turkey most of her life. Changed her diet, she went seven months seizure free. The one she had was because I had a bad fall, could not get up, was down for 4.5 days and she missed doses of her meds. Afterwards thought we were back on track but over the next several months, she started refusing to eat, lost so much weight, and it was gastric carcinoma. Both this and epilepsy are far to prevalent in our beloved Belgians. More in the Tervs and Sheepdogs, I have heard less common in the Mals. My Josie died on March 24, 2024. I still randomly just start crying, I miss her so damn much. If there is a Rainbow Bridge, I hope Rancho and Josie are there waiting to reunite with us.

what a beautiful dog Rancho is! And he reminds me in so many ways of my tervueren sheperd "Neska" She almost always walked Off leach, and didnt poop when on leach! Never rolled herself in mud or anything stinky. Also came looking and smelling when i changed my clothes. And the most typical Neska thing was; she chattered her teeth when she welcomes me after i came home. Another typical thing she did was; whenever i cleaned her paws after a muddy walk, she started to clean my ears when i had to bend to her! so lovely! like she said; you take care of me, and i'll take care of you! I took her to training her first year, and after that it was the most well-behaved and easy dog. She never would do anything that wasn't allowed. always looked at me first. She became 12 years, i had to let her sleep due to bladdercancer. miss her so deeply. She was the best dog ever.

Never in my life I ever had a dog that actually told me what they wanted when I asked he's just a puppy this breed is something else 😄 💖🐶💖

What type of harness do you recommend for a chihuahua/beagle hybrid who is more on the beagle size in height and weighs about 20 pounds? I'm trying to find one that my rescue can't easily escape from because she keeps slipping out of the one I have for her even though it's as tight as I can get it while it's also comfortable for her. She's about 3 years old at present and turning 4.

Like mine😅 . Wonderful. This breed is not as aggressive and strong as mailinois but at least it is as smart and really family dog. So tervueren is not a long hair malinois, totally different behavior and caracter.

Working line is longer hair malinois but not tervueren.
